Press Release from the fellas at Liquid Force:

Fort Worth, TX. (August 28, 2009) – On Saturday, September 19th some of the top professional wakeskaters in the world will make their way to Fort Worth, Texas to participate in the Monster Energy Trinity River Round Up. This will be, a unique competition that will take place on several custom built rails and obstacles over a spillway on the Trinity River in Trinity Park. The event was originally scheduled to take place earlier this year during Fort Worth’s Annual Mayfest Celebration, but the festival was cancelled due to a swine flu scare

The Monster Energy Trinity River Round-Up is the brainchild of Dallas Texas based pro rider, Clint Tompkins. Known for his technical prowess on rails and obstacles and his never-ending search for new, undiscovered “winch” spots, Tompkins wanted to create an event that would bring some of his friends and fellow competitors to Texas to compete in a unique, natural setting. With $5000 in prize money up for grabs.

The Monster Energy Trinity River Round Up will be the first pro wakeskate competition to take place in an all-natural setting and some of the most celebrated names in the sport are already scheduled to compete including Tompkins, Reed Hansen, Andrew Pastura, Ross Gardner, George Daniels, Matt Hooker, Collin Gee and recent Alliance Wakeboard Magazine cover boy – Dieter Humpsch. Invitations are also out to Aaron Reed, Brian Grubb, Matt Manzari and Nick Taylor.

In addition to Monster Energy Drink, the event is sponsored by Freeman Toyota/SCION, Woly Board Company, FUEL TV, Time Warner Cable and Liquid Force. Media partners include Alliance Wakeboard Magazine, the Fort Worth Weekly and Wakeworld.com.

Mastercraft’s Pro Wakeboard Tour’s last stop took place in Reno, Nevada, and that’s where history was made. The conditions were ideal, the X-Star is a beast of a boat and in the last round of the day Rusty Malinoski lands the first ever 10 in competition! The switch toeside 1080 is now in the books, an unbelievable feat!

Malibu Boats is being recognized for outstanding customer service again this year with the 2009 Marine Industry CSI Award from NMMA.

Press Release:

(Chicago, IL) – The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced Malibu Boats as the recipient of the 2009 Marine Industry CSI Award. That makes it 2 years in a row for the world’s best selling water sports boat. This latest award joins Malibu’s 8th consecutive Boat of the Year Award in the trophy cabinet for 2009. Malibu Boats was recognized for excellence in customer satisfaction, as part of NMMA’s Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) program.

Malibu Boats will be acknowledged during the 2009 International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), taking place October 12-14 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

The Marine Industry CSI Awards program honors participating manufacturers that actively measure customer satisfaction and pursue continuous improvement to better serve the customer. Award recipients achieved and maintained an independently-measured standard of excellence of 90 percent or higher in customer satisfaction over the past year, based on information provided by customers purchasing a new boat or engine during the period between April 1, 2008 and March 31, 2009. Participating manufacturers must survey all new boat buyers during this period.

NMMA launched its CSI program in 2001 to provide boat and engine manufacturers with an independently-measured, cost-effective means of improving customer satisfaction in the boating industry. Since the program’s inception, more than 600,000 surveys have been sent out to new boat and engine customers, allowing participating manufacturers to monitor customer satisfaction on an ongoing basis, and to benchmark themselves against the industry and their competitors. There were a total of 105 boat and engine brands that participated in the 2009 program.

Soven takes top spot in killer competition!

Sparks, Nev. – The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour wrapped-up its fifth and final stop of the 2009 season today in the greater Reno area of Sparks, Nevada, where the world’s top pro riders hit the waters of Sparks Marina for the closing-rounds of action.

The Pro Men division battled it out on the water today in quarterfinal and semifinal rounds before Danny Harf, Harley Clifford, Rusty Malinoski and Phillip Soven hopped off the dock, respectively, for the four-man final.

Harf and Clifford both had impressive runs in the finals, but Malinoski was quick to answer back by landing a Switch Toeside 1080 – the first 1080 ever landed in a wakeboarding contest – to end their chances of winning. While Malinoski’s 1080 was certainly the highlight of the finals, it wasn’t enough to stop Phillip Soven from claiming the win at Sparks Marina, his second consecutive victory of the season. Malinoski and Clifford rounded out the contest podium, respectively.

Phillip Soven also claimed the ROCKSTAR Best Trick Award for his Backside 720 off of the U.S. Air Force kicker. The Award is a $1,000 cash prize.

Although Harley Clifford didn’t win the final stop of the season, the 15-year-old rookie phenom’s third-place finish today earned him enough points to win the overall Pro Tour title. Clifford now becomes only the second rider ever to win the overall title in his rookie year, behind wakeboarding legend Parks Bonifay, who won it in 1996. Clifford totaled 450 points throughout the five-stop season. Aaron Rathy finished the season in second place with 440 points and Phillip Soven rounded out the top three with 415 points.

In the Jr. Pro Men division, Steel Lafferty, Daniel Powers, Bob Soven and Aussie Mitch Langfield battled it out on the water in a four-man final for the top spot in the contest. All four amateur rippers threw down impressive runs, but top-seed Bob Soven emerged as the winner at Sparks Marina.

With today’s victory, Soven claims his fifth consecutive win of the season, sweeping the five-stop tour to become the first amateur rider ever to sweep the Jr. Pro Men division. Bob’s older brother, Phillip Soven, swept the Pro Men division during the 2008 Pro Tour.

The Sparks Marina Pro Tour stop also served as the fourth contest in the Queen of Wake series – a five-stop pro circuit for female wakeboarders. All eyes were on top-seed Dallas Friday today in the Pro Women division finals, as the current series points-leader was looking to break a four-year losing streak at Sparks Marina. While the competition in the six-woman final appeared to be tough, Friday edged defending Queen of Wake titlist Nicola Butler 92.00 to 90.50 to take the top spot at Sparks Marina, ending her winless streak there.

Dallas Friday now has a 25-point lead over Butler going in to the final stop of the Queen of Wake series.

Additional cities on the 2009 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, included: Fort Worth, Tex., Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Knoxville, Tenn., and Elizabethtown, Ky.

The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour is organized by World Sports & Marketing of Orlando, Fla. The Pro Tour has the support of the following sponsors: MasterCraft, Rockstar Energy Drink, Mona Vie, the U.S. Air Force, Indmar, Billabong, Hyperlite, CWB, Ronix, Liquid Force, Gator Boards, Oakley, Ride the Wake, FUEL TV and Allisports.com.

The sickest riders that America has to offer hit the waters of Oklahoma City, Okla., to showcase their skills and try to win some serious cash for the top spots in Nationals. Air Nautique put on one hell of a contest and below is all the info you need:

The 2009 Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships, presented by ROCKSTAR, wrapped-up its final day of action in Oklahoma City, Okla., with several wakeboarding firsts occurring throughout the day.

In the Pro Men’s division, Adam Errington upset the top-seeded rider, Andrew Adkison, in the five-man final to win his first pro national title. Adkison finished the contest in second place, while Danny Harf rounded out the podium in third. Though he didn’t claim the national title, Harf did make an impact on the water by landing the first Wrapped Nose Grab Backside Off-Axis 720 in a contest. Rusty Malinoski and Shane Bonifay finished the five-man final, respectively.

Taking home the ROCKSTAR Best Trick Award was Keith Lidberg for his Toeside 270 on the Fun Box. The Award is a $1,000 cash prize.

Reed Hansen landed the first Switch Heelside 540 in a contest during his final run to help earn his second Pro Wakeskate national title. Hansen won his first in 2007. Brian Grubb and Brandon Thomas rounded out the podium, respectively.

Breaking her own record, previously set at five, Dallas Friday claimed her sixth U.S. national title – the most won by any wakeboarder. Friday topped the podium after taking first place in the Pro Women’s division six-woman final. Nicola Butler and Amber Wing rounded out the podium, respectively.

The Jr. Pro Men’s division hit the water for their six-man final, with Bob Soven taking first place with a score of 97.00, a near 20-point differential from the next closest competitor. Jacob Valdez and Daniel Powers rounded out the Jr. Pro Men’s division podium. His win marks Soven’s first national title in the Jr. Pro Men’s division.

The Boys and Jr. Women divisions also wrapped-up their riding, with Jason Soven and Megan Blaschka claiming their respective division’s national title.

Now that the Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships, presented by ROCKSTAR has ended, the top tier riders from each of the 20 divisions will be invited to represent the United States at the WWA Wakeboard World Champions later this year in Orlando, Fla.

Monster Energy teamrider Danny Harf is the 2009 Liquid Force BROstock Champion!

Check out this press release from the boys at Liquid Force:

The world’s best in wake congregated at Lake Powell this past weekend for Liquid Force’s annual BROstock festival. Fueled by Monster Energy, 2009’s BROstock proved to be bigger and better then expected once again! Twenty four of the best riders including Shawn Watson, Shane Bonifay, Rusty Malinoski, Phillip Soven, and Danny Harf came for the contest, but stayed for the fun and festivities.

The weekend kicked off Friday with a progressive wakeskate demo that featured the likes of Aaron Reed, Danny Hampson, and Brian Grubb, among others. The crew took it to the backcountry, where they sessioned over rocks and natural terrain. Earlier in the day, the pro wakeboarders got a chance to get accustomed to the monsterous wake of the LF BROstock edition Supra 24’, as they had a 2 hour practice session. The night concluded with premiers of both Collin Harrington’s Box of Fun and Billabong’s Out of the Pond to a boisterous crowd watching on the 36’ screen and sound system set up in the desert!

Saturday kicked off early with the LF DJ throwing down the beats for round one of the double-up contest. Round 1 started with 24 riders riding in heats that would eventually cut the field down to 16. From round one, the format switched to head-to-head as the 16 remaining riders would battle it out to make it into the round of 8. Once in the round of 8, all riders would be getting paid. Needless to say, the competition was definitely heating up. With the Supra 24’ BROstock edition the official towboat of BROstock, all competitors were guaranteed a consistently giant wake and that lead to some serious boosting!

After a semifinals round that eliminated Ben Greenwood, Harley Clifford, Jeff Weatherall, and Shane Bonifay, the final 4 consisted of Danny Harf, Chris O’Shea, as well as Liquid Force’s own Bob Soven and James Balzer, the spoilers of the event. Balzer, know for his wakeskating prowess, was a last minute fill in for the event as another rider backed out due to injury. He continued to impress round after round and was a definite fan favorite. Bob, the 17 year old phenom was impressive all day as he was able to take down some of the industry’s best, including Rusty Malinoski and his older brother Phillip. In the finals, Balzer stomped a clean backside 540 while Bob threw down a huge toeside 900 to claim the 3rd and 2nd spots on the podium respectively. In the end, however it was Monster Energy team rider, Danny Harf who dropped a wrapped nose grab backside 720 to claim the top spot. He had consistently been landing what was considered one of the most stylish and progressive tricks all day and was rewarded heavily for it. In the process, Danny walked away $12,500 richer and put his name in the history books of BROstock, a contest that is widely becoming known for producing some of the most progressive contest riding ever!

Be sure to tune in to FUEL TV August 25th at 8:30pm to watch the BROstock show and relive all of the action!

Thanks to all 2009 BROstock sponsors including Monster Energy, Liquid Force, Supra Boats, Dragon Alliance, Alliance Wakeboard Magazine, FUEL TV, New Era Cap, and Lake Powell Resorts and Marinas.

The fellas at LF are gracious enough to hook us up with the results of BROstock so be sure to check out their website, www.liquidforce.com for additional information about this crazy event!
