globe are set to hit the waters of Dallas Landing Park in the greater
Atlanta area of Acworth, Ga., on May 19-21, to kick off the 20th season
of MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink.
All the high-flying, rail-sliding water-sports action will take place
just offshore from the park's beach, on Lake Allatoona, where the
sport's top pros will compete for a cash purse and points toward the
season standings for the coveted Pro Tour title.

Throughout the three-day event, riders will compete in a series of
elimination rounds by performing rail tricks and aerial stunts, while
being pulled on the water by the official Pro Tour towboat, the
MasterCraft X-Star, at a speed of approximately 25mph. Tricks are scored
by a panel of judges, with only the top-scoring athletes advancing in
each round until a winner is determined in the finals, on Saturday, May
21.

Following the final rounds of action on Saturday, the Pro Tour will also
host two exhibition events on site, including the Overton's Double Up
Contest and a Big-Air Kicker Contest. Both events are designed to
feature select athletes performing exciting and innovative new tricks
that aren't normally attempted in a traditional contest setting.

The 2011 Acworth tour stop, will mark the Pro Tour's fifth appearance at
Dallas Landing Park in the last six years.

Last year, the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, presented by Rockstar
Energy Drink made a splash in front of a crowd of more than 8,000
people, as several historical events took place in Acworth.

Teenage Australian phenom Harley Clifford took first place at Dallas
Landing Park in 2010, after landing a handle pass KGB 540 - the first
ever in a contest. Also former world champion Rusty Malinoski landed one
of the most exciting tricks ever performed in Acworth - a Toeside 1080 -
during the event's Double Up Contest.

The 2011 Pro Tour opener promises to be even better, with addition of
the Pro Women's division. The sport's top female rippers have not
competed at Dallas Landing Park since 2008 and are looking to make an
impact in Acworth during their return.

In addition to all the action on the water; on land, fans will enjoy
plenty of great food; athlete autograph signings; chances to win
freebies; product sampling, and shopping at the most cutting-edge stores
for water-sports equipment including boats, wakeboards, wakeskates,
sunglasses and the latest in wakeboarding and surfing fashions. At the
Pro Tour's entertainment stage, guests can catch athlete interviews,
color commentators and interactive live music.

The first two days of action in Acworth feature qualifying rounds for
riders, and is free to the public to watch. Saturday, May 21 will be a
ticketed event beginning at 10:30 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m. Friday, May
19 will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday's event will run from 8
a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at the gate: $13 (adult); $5 (ages 6-12); free
(ages 5 and under); or $7 (adult) if purchased online.

Fort Worth, Tex. – Fans packed the shores of Texas MasterCraft today for the final rounds of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour stop in Fort Worth, Tex. Riders in the Pro Men, Women and Jr. Pro Men divisions, threwdown their best runs of the contest to try to win the first Tour stop of the 2009 season.

The one reoccurring theme throughout this weekend’s contest in the Pro Men’s division was upsets created by rookie riders, and today was no different. Harley Clifford of Thornlands, Australia, shocked everyone in Fort Worth today, when the 15-year-old rookie was called to the top of the Pro Men’s podium. Clifford, posting a 94.75 in his final run, beat out Olivier Derome, Aaron Rathy and two-time wakeboard world champion, Andrew Adkison for the top spot.

“I’m just stoked… there are no other words,” said Clifford. “Making it to the Finals was huge for me, but winning my first U.S. Pro Tour stop is just unreal.”

As unreal as it may seem to Clifford, the rookie rider now sits at the top of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour standings list, making him the top-seeded rider in the next contest.

Incidentally, another rookie rider, England’s Nick Davies, claimed the ROCKSTAR Best Trick Award with his massive Toe-9 off of the U.S. Air Force kicker. The Award is a $1,000 cash prize.

Continuing her success from 2008, England’s Nicola Butler took first-place today in the Pro Women’s division Finals. Butler, 17, who captured the win in Fort Worth last year, faced off in a stacked six-woman Final. Former wakeboard world champ Amber Wing and four-time X Games gold medalist Dallas Friday rounded out the women’s podium, respectively.

The top amateur riders in the Jr. Pro Men’s division hit the water today for their four-man Final. The heat was tight between most of the riders, but Bob Soven (Longwood, Fla.) stood out from the competition to take the first Tour stop win of the season with nearly a 15-point differential from his next closest competitor. Phillip Alsinger, Mitch Langfield and Steel Lafferty rounded the Final, respectively.

The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour will make its next stop of the season in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., on June 19-21.

What does Mastercraft have to do with Supercross?

I spent this past weekend throwing a “Mastercraft Pit Party” at the “Monster Energy Supercross Series” in St. Louis, MO. Not only is Mastercraft a major sponsor of Supercross, but they are also the main sponsor of Supercross/Motocross racer “Heath Voss”. Along with the sport of Wakeboarding, I myself have always been a huge fan of Supercross and Motocross sports alike. However, I never realized how many other people shared the same passion for the same two sports. When I first heard that we would be helping arrange the pit party for this event, I had to ask myself “What does Mastercraft have to do with Supercross?” They are two completely different sports that don’t resemble each other in any way shape or form. Or do they? The doors to the pits opened at 12:30 on Saturday afternoon and stayed open until 6:30 that night. An estimated 18,000 people walked through the pits that day. Thankfully our Ronix rep “Grant Kalkoske” stuck around all weekend helping us with the party. As I looked around I picked up on the fact that there where literally hundreds of vendors that had nothing to do the sport, other than being a sponsor of course. Then it hit me! Not only was the pit party being thrown to promote the sport of Supercross, but it was also being thrown to promote a lifestyle. People that are really involved with Wakeboarding, Waterskiing, Supercross, Skateboarding, Snowboarding, ect… all tend to follow a different lifestyle. None of these sports can be considered mainstream. You won’t find many of the professionals in these sports signing multi million dollar contracts, and the ones that do have typically more than earned it! People like us that take part in these sports are not in it for the fame or the fortune. We do it because we love it! It’s a lifestyle that we choose to live, and that is what Mastercraft along with the rest of the event sponsors want to be a part of. I thought it was pretty cool to see so many people getting excited about the event and all of the different booths the event sponsors set up for the party. I think if we can keep these sponsors around there will be no end to how big our sports can grow.
