T&C Wake Company

This Saturday, November 22, T&C Wake Company based out of Fort Myers, Florida, is having its first annual River Jam. T&C Wake Company is a predominately online based store that sells everything that the wake industry has to offer. Their event this weekend is expected to have a massive turnout with all the big sponsors such as Hyperlite, Ronix, Byerly, Jetpilot, and many more. Also, pro riders such as Shane Bonifay, Danny Harf, Adam Errington, Ryan Doyle, Mark Weikel are just a few riders that will be there shredding all day long. T&C is going to break out all their new 09 products to demo for anyone who wants to check it out. This all day session is supposed to be one of the biggest off-season wakeboarding events of the year in the US and Fuel TV is going to be there so we will hopefully be able to check out the highlights soon.

MasterCraft announced that its president and CEO, John Dorton, has been elected and appointed to key leadership roles in the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA). These appointments include chairman of the Boat Manufacturer’s Division (BMD) and being voted on to the NMMA Executive Committee. “It is always an honor to be recognized by the industry and my peers in this way,” said Dorton. He went on to say, “But more importantly, I look forward to taking my years of advocacy and passion for this industry and working with the NMMA to help its members achieve financial success, especially as we move through and the eventual exit out of this economic downturn.” As chairman of the NMMA Boat Manufacturers Division, Dorton will help set the agenda for the industry steering committee. The BMD provides public policy advocacy for marine manufacturers at the government level, promotes boating among consumers, advocates improved customer satisfaction and serves to increase cooperation and unity throughout the industry.

Company Wakeboards

Company wakeboards, which debuted its brand launch at the Surf Expo in September 2008, recently announced that the new board brand will release in mid-November a limited-edition run of its first 100 boards off the press. Company wake, headed by Justin Stephens, is an up and coming brand with tremendous potential that everyone was extremely excited about at the Surf Expo. Fitting called the Super Limited 138, the new board features a special edition graphic and each of the 100 first-run boards will be numbered and signed by Stephens. Malibu shows Christmas Spirit

With many families struggling financially this year, Malibu boats is doing all they can to show good tidings and cheer. This holiday season they are offering special incentives so that nearly everyone can have a Malibu Christmas like so many families have in years’ past.

In order to put people in the Christmas spirit, Malibu is sharing Christmas stories to inspire prospective boat buyers to take the plunge and allow their 2009 holiday season to last for years to come.

The Isner family, from Washington State, has already shared their greatest Christmas story with Malibu.
Joe Isner and his wife, Kim, fell in love with the 23 LSV-as did their two daughters, when they came upon it before Christmas last year. Though he wasn’t ready to buy the boat that day, Joe knew the 23 LSV’s sick wake would finally allow him to get the backroll he had been working on, which was so far unsuccessfully. Knowing what would make her husband’s Christmas better than he ever could have imagined, Kim made a call to Bake’s Marine sales manager, Matt Cour.

Kim and her daughters arranged for a friend to pick up the boat and then leave it in the Isners’ driveway Christmas morning. When he woke up and unwrapped presents that day, Joe had no idea his dream boat was sitting in the driveway outside. After the presents had all been opened the family led him outside where he found the best gift that wouldn’t fit under the tree.

Thanks to the 23 LSV Joe was able to land his backroll and the Isner family has made many memories on the water since their Christmas surprise.

Malibu wants everyone to have the type of Christmas that the Isners’ had. So they are offering a “Boat Rockin’ Christmas” this year. They will be giving up to $20,000 off MSRP as well as other special pricing and financing. Wakeskating

Like wakeboarding and water skiing, wakeskating is performed behind a boat. The main difference between wakeboarding and wakeskating is that on a wakeskate there are no bindings, creating a whole new list of challenges. There are two types of wakeskates: wood-based or composite material based. Wood gives a better feel, but the composite boards are slightly lighter. The surface of the board can also come in two varieties: grip tape or foam. Foam is a better choice for beginners, as it reduces the likelihood of serious scrapes. Wakeskates are also smaller than wakeboards. There exists a line of shoes designed specifically for wakeskating. They are similar to skateboard shoes, but are designed in such a way that they do not retain water. Wakeskating has increased in popularity over the past few years to the point that it now has its own competitors on the Pro Wakeboard Tour. It has a much more limited user base, however, because the sport is more difficult to learn, for example, jumping from wake-to-wake is more difficult wakeskating than wakeboarding. Some of the most popular names in the sport include: Thomas Horrel, Brian Grubb, and Scott Byerly.

Saturday Morning on the Bay

This pass weekend, November 8th, I was able to get out on the bay for the first time since I’ve lived here for some early morning riding. Saturday morning at around 7:00am I meet Jared from the website for the first time and one of his buddies Evan and we headed out for a couple of hours of wakeboarding. It was incredible, just us and the fishing boats, no one was out there. We had glass pretty much the entire morning and by about 7:30 it was already 70 degrees outside and the water was still surprisingly warm. With not a cloud in the sky and absolutely zero wind the conditions were ideal for us and for about two hours we took turns continuously until we were gassed at the end. Got to test out my brand new hypertlite board that I just bought and felt great and the board had some nice pop to it. First time I’ve been out in two months so I had some pretty entertaining spills out there but at least I was catching some pretty decent air. Jared and Evan were shredding nicely and working on their 360’s which produced some major spills as well. First trip out on the bay couldn’t have been any better and definitely look forward to meeting more of you from the site so we can rip it up before the water gets too rigid this winter.
