Leading the many innovations for 2010 is TigeTouch, the world’s first fully functional touch-screen control system to be used in an inboard watersport boat. Designed specifically for today’s watersports enthusiast, TigeTouch seamlessly integrates the control of all operating systems, watersports performance settings and engine monitoring functions into a single user-friendly 6.5″ full color multi-media touch-screen display. Intuitive, easy-to-navigate screens and menus control and monitor multiple functions and settings with the touch of a finger. Available on all 2010 Tige RZ and Ve models, the innovative system uses proprietary Tige software designed to simplify use, maximize reliability and allow a wide range of user customization, including one-touch creation of up to 20 athlete custom profiles registering riding speed, ballast settings, and TAPS2 position.

Ergonomics, safety and ease of use were top priorities in development of TigeTouch, which is part Tige’s contemporary 2010 dash design for its RZ and Ve series boats. The new dash features a clean, simplified layout and ultra-low profile to maximize forward visibility. The three stylish Medallion digital/analog gauges work in tandem with the TigeTouch control screen that is conveniently located to the right of the main dash, easily accessible by the driver and in close proximity to the throttle handle. In addition to its fully functional finger-touch capabilities, TigeTouch also features a set of raised control buttons to the right of the display. This fingertip recognition feature allows the driver to easily adjust speed control, audio and other functions without taking his eyes off the water.

Renowned Tige watersports versatility has been given a significant boost for 2010 with the development of an advanced modular ballast system providing up to 2,000 pounds of factory ballast. The entire system has been designed for maximum flexibility and unlimited weight distribution configurations easily controllable through the TigeTouch display. The base factory ballast option includes under floor tanks with a 900-pound capacity. The Surf package adds two bags in the rear storage area. When empty, these bags are retractable to allow full use of the storage areas. The Pro package ballast option includes base and surf packages plus two independent bags in the bow.

Tige 2010 interiors feature several upgrades and refinements. All Tige RZ, Ve and Z1 models now feature snap-in removable carpet throughout and a fully integrated fiberglass floor system. The new floor has been engineered to provide full, easy access to the fuel tank and other under-floor components.

(Chicago, IL) – The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced Malibu Boats as the recipient of the 2009 Marine Industry CSI Award. That makes it 2 years in a row for the world’s best selling water sports boat. This latest award joins Malibu’s 8th consecutive Boat of the Year Award in the trophy cabinet for 2009. Malibu Boats was recognized for excellence in customer satisfaction, as part of NMMA’s Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) program.

Malibu Boats will be acknowledged during the 2009 International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), taking place October 12-14 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

The Marine Industry CSI Awards program honors participating manufacturers that actively measure customer satisfaction and pursue continuous improvement to better serve the customer. Award recipients achieved and maintained an independently-measured standard of excellence of 90 percent or higher in customer satisfaction over the past year, based on information provided by customers purchasing a new boat or engine during the period between April 1, 2008 and March 31, 2009. Participating manufacturers must survey all new boat buyers during this period.

NMMA launched its CSI program in 2001 to provide boat and engine manufacturers with an independently-measured, cost-effective means of improving customer satisfaction in the boating industry. Since the program’s inception, more than 600,000 surveys have been sent out to new boat and engine customers, allowing participating manufacturers to monitor customer satisfaction on an ongoing basis, and to benchmark themselves against the industry and their competitors. There were a total of 105 boat and engine brands that participated in the 2009 program.

Last fall in LA, I had the chance to work as a Production Assistant on the “Notorious” shoot for Arnette. The shoot was shot by Tim Tadder, a professional photographer who resides in Carlsbad, and the rest of the work was taken on by the Onit Production team (including me.)  The “Notorious” collection was launched by Arnette in October of 2008 with a bad ass bash in Sydney, Australia. I’m pretty sure it was a smashing event considering the talent and Snoop Dogg hosting.   The “Notorious” collection ads, which we were shooting, featured 7 different Action Sports athletes. I definitely had starry eyes when Surfers Jamie O’Brien and Timmy Reyes showed up. Then, Matt Manzari and Randall Harris made an appearance, two of the top Wakeboarders in the country. I decided to take it apon myself to do a little research on Randall, the tatted up SoCal resident . Here is what I found…

Randall was born in Waco, TX. 

Randall grew up skateboarding, but started hitting the water at age 12.

Randall’s nickname is “The Vandall.”

Randall is sponsored by Malibu boats, Quiksilver, Arnette, Company Wakeboards and Rockstar.

Randall is known for his big moves, big air and big… haha just kidding.

Randall currently resides near Huntington Beach, CA. Quiksilver reported on June 5, 2009 that Randall and his crew, aka the West Side Riders (WSR) have a new residency in a private community ’round those parts. Jealous?

Randall has won such awards as the  ”2007 Rider of the Year” from Alliance Magazine  and “Best Wake Rider” from Wakeboarding Magazine.

The Axis Team  introduced the new Axis 22 boat on Lake Elsinore on February 20, 2009 with “The Vandall” as the lucky guinea pig.  I just spotted this video at alliancewake.com and thought it was pretty cool. The boat can fit up to 13 people, has a Wakebox 900 Ballast system, and is pretty snazzy to say the least. Maybe we will see “Randall The Vandall” out in SD with his new Axis. One can only hope he has a few extra spots.
