Flex vs. Stiff

May 25, 2008

that is the question. I think our sport is in the middle of board generations. The board of tomorrow will make the boards we ride now look like a skurfer does to us. With all the revolutionary boards like the Sub-6, the SlingShot line up, the Ronix DVH1, the Marek and the Liquid Force Press we are soon to see a “perfect” board. A lot of people think we are starting a flex generation, but I think we will be seeing more boards like the sub-6 and the DVH1, lighter boards that are stiff with the normal flex.

Riding rails might be a different story. I think boards like the Roam, Covenant, Flex, Recoil, and Response will be taking over the rails. Flex boards are just so fun to ride at places like the cable park and rail jams I see a lot more people getting flex for rails. I also think FreeRide teams like Sling Shot will stay flex.

Who really knows tomorrow we might be riding behind solar powered boats with 2 by fours strapped to our feet, Oh well I’m sure we will always have something better than we do now, just ride what you have until the fins fall off.
